MORGON VIEILLES VIGNES 2005

The only "cepage" of the Morgon is Black Gamay with white juice, hand- harvested and vinified with full clusters in order to extract all the organoleptic qualities.

1) Climate:
Morgon:   Corcelette, Douby and Delys
To the north-east of the appellation, at an elevation of 300 to 400m

2) Age of Vines:
60 to 90 year-old vines

3) Soil
The Black Gamay is grown in a soil that is, at the surface, lightly granitic, rich in iron oxide and manganese, allowing for good aging

4) Yields:
Depending on the vintage and the parcel, between 20 and 30hl/ha (appellation allows 60hl/ha)

5) Vinification
Traditional with aging in foudre, and bottling without filtration

6) Characteristics
A beautiful velvety red robe with violet-purple highlights, a complex nose with notes of crystallized black cherries, with a tinge a roasted coffee and chocolate, and licorice.
A supple and ample attack  with an aroma of red and black fruit salad (black currant and blackberry).
Long and persistent finish.

This is a wine to be served with seared red meats.
This wine will express its best potential, if served when it is young, in a carafe.
Can be cellared from 5 to 15 years.
