Chateau des Roques, Dany and Pierre Seroul
France, Rhône, Vaqueyras
The Seroul family has owned this property situated next to Domaine Sang des Cailloux and at the beginning of the plateau since the 19th century. It now covers 32 hectares of large cailloux over limestone and takes its name from the Hameau des Roques where the Chapelle des Roques (18th c.) frames a beautiful view of the Dentelles de Montmirail. The family’s vineyard philosophy is farming with only the use of natural fertilizers, tailored treatments and hand-harvesting, with the greatest respect for tradition. The cellar houses a natural spring and offers ideal conditions both for winemaking and aging of the wines. Peter Weygandt selected the blend for the cuvée we have - it is 60% Grenache, of which a third are 80 year old vines; 30% old-vines Mourvedre, half of which are aged in demi-muids, 8% old vines Cinsault and 2% Syrah. Unfiltered.
