Domaine Chevreau, Nicolas Chevreau
France, Loire, Sancerre
The Chevreau family owns the Chateau de Crezancy domaine, though this project is separate from the Chateau. Nicolas Chevreau has created a cuvée, Terres Blanches, from two parcels—Epsailles and Cote de Reigny (sometimes shown as Derriere Reigny on maps), both very steep slopes. The soil in each is Terres Blanches or marneaux lime/clay. Part of the parcel in Reigny is very old vines (over 60 years). There is no fining and only one light filtration over white clay. The 2017 is a brilliant combination of ripe, fresh flavors with perfect balancing acidity, salinity and a long finish.
