Domaine de Beauregard

France, Loire, Muscadet

The Gregoire family has resided in the heart of the Nantes vineyards for five generations, and since the 1990’s has collaborated with Peter Weygandt. Laurent Gregoire joined his father, Henri, upon completion of viticultural college and immediately made a rapid impact on the French wine press with his superb vinification of the ’96 and ’97 vintages. In 1999 he took over the domaine which today is comprised of 18 hectares, 16 of which are planted with Melon de Bourgogne. His vineyards are located at Mouzillon, near Vallet, one of the best situations in Muscadet and their vines are of a very high average age. The geological diversity of terroirs in Mouzillon gives an aromatic richness that is famous. This is a Muscadet with a real concentration of fruit, structure and length, comparing favorably with a fine Chablis—a really exciting find, and wine.
