Piccolo Bacco dei Quaroni, Mario Cavalli
Piccolo Bacco dei Quaroni, started in 1905 by Francesco Quaroni, is a small family-run winery that covers more than 10 hectares in Montu Beccaria in the Oltrepo Pavese area. Since 2004 the owners have converted the entire estate to organic and natural cultivation. The family farms to maintain as much biological diversity as possible such as permanent grassing of the vineyards and organic compost to fertilize. Mario Cavalli makes captivating red wines from indigenous grape varietals of Lombardi. Il Moreè is an ancient name for “moradella” that in the beginning of the 1900s was more famous than the Croatina/Bonarda. Buttafuoco is a DOC made from a blend of 4 different grapes: Croatina, Barbera, Uva, and Vespolina.
