Pascal ROBLET-MONNOT and Cecile TREMBLAY

This husband and wife team, are hopefully as perfectly matched personally as they are in terms of vineyard holdings. Pascal’s family had vines predominantly in Volnay, but in Pommard as well. Cecile is the grand-niece of Henri Jayer (on her mother’s side), and, from the Jayer family, has holdings principally in and around Vosne-Romanee. Together this makes an impressive range of appellations, and together they make superb Burgundies. I admit a personal love of these wines. They are all extremely well-balanced, intense but not heavy, and they will age beautifully (as I have tasted vintages dating back to 1993 with Pascal). Moreover, Pascal and Cecile are practicing bio-dynamic viticulture these last two vintages. They do not believe in the use of too much oak (nothing over 50% except for the Grand Crus), and none of the wines are fined or filtered. If not as famous as some producers in the Cote d’Or, they are certainly in the very top class in quality.
