Domaine Bertagna |
|
Claude Bertagna created the Domaine in the 50’s. He sold it to the Reh family in 1982. Extra vineyards were bought over a period spanning a decade. In 1988, Eva Reh Siddle took over the general running of Domaine Bertagna, where today she is still in charge of operations. As all of us know, who love Burgundies, growing Pinot Noir and making great wine in the little sliver of a slope between Dijon and Beaune, is no easy matter. From 2001 to today, the one constant for the winemaking at the Domaine is that Denis Rozat has been in charge of all the day to day winemaking tasks. From the 2001 through the 2005 vintage, he followed the directives of Claire Forestier, the then regisseur. And in 2006, he assumed total control of all winemaking decisions and activities. It is Denis Rozat's passion for purity and finesse that is the signature of this domaine. Every single wine is a beautiful expression of its terroir and seems to have a slightly different aspect of Pinot Noir on display. The “Les Dames Huguettes”, a single vineyard Hautes Côtes de Nuits (old vines, dense planting), the Chambolle , the 70 year-old vines Nuits Les Murgers , the Vosne Les Beaux Monts, are all irreproachable; then in the Grand Cru range, there is the voluptuous Clos St Denis, the muscular Clos de Vougeot, and (I would include as a nearly Grand Cru) their monopole Clos de la Perrière, with its splendid structure. This unique parcel adjoins Musigny, Clos de Vougeot, and Les Amoureuses on three of its sides. It is in fact the place from which the stones for constructing the Clos de Vougeot were taken by the monks nearly a thousand years ago. ..... Peter Weygandt Technical information:
