Rarely have I meet a person, man or women, as talented, ambitious, and determined as Isabel Ferrando.  She speaks four languages, was a successful bank executive, is an accomplished painter (she designs a new label for Isabel Ferrando wines each year) and in just 3 years making wine, is already regarded as one of the top winemakers in Châteauneuf . Success does not just happen - it comes from planning and hard work and Isabel has planned carefully.  When she and her husband acquired a domaine in Châteauneuf,  Isabel immediately became  acquainted with the top winemakers in Châteauneuf, to learn from them.  Her principal mentor and friend is Henri Bonneau and Philippe cambie is her oenologist.

In spring of 2004, she acquired a 1 ha parcel in lieu-dit "Colombis" of very old, nearly 100% Grenache vines.  Her first vintage was declared in a blind tasting of the New York Times to be its top 2004 Châteauneuf of that tasting (Some 50 in all).  In 2005, she acquired another parcel, but yields were so low that we are only able to secure the same amount of 2005 as we did of the 2004.

Vinification is classic, aging is done in older demi-muids, the wine is bottled unfiltered and will live as long as the cork allows it.  A monumental Châteauneuf.
