S.C. GUILLARD

I stumbled upon the wines of Michel Guillard   through an acquaintance, an inhabitant of Gevrey-Chambertin who likes to drink the wines of that village, who mentioned that Guillard was one of the best, if not the best known.

Michel is an elderly bachelor who works his tiny domaine of about over 5 hectares by himself.  He has virtually  nothing but old vines.  His yields are very low, vinification is very traditional.

Here is a very rare example of what Gevrey wines must have been like 50 years ago.

First parcel acquired in 1913 (Les Platières) by Michel Guillard's  grandfather, Auguste Lyonnet (known as  Henri)

Average age of the vines:

Les Corbeaux: 77 years
Lavaux St Jacques : 65 years
Le Poissenot : 46 years
Aux Corvées : 55 years
La Platière : 50 years
