Simon Hackett |
|
Simon Hackett has a small production from his own vines which he then expands with the fruit that he sources primarily from around the McLaren Vale, but also from the Barossa. Under the Simon Hackett label he produces mostly lower priced average quality wines, and as a consequence Simon and I have agreed that we will no longer be representing the Simon Hackett label but will only be offering his special cuvees, under the name "The Gatekeeper" (the 1998 Anthony’s Reserve Shiraz being the last Simon Hackett wine we’ll offer). Simon’s Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon was entirely from a block of 75 year old vines in the McLaren Vale. His Reserve Shiraz is sourced mainly from McLaren Vale fruit but about one-sixth of the Gatekeeper Reserve is from 110 year old Shiraz vines in the Barossa.
