CHANTALE ET PASCAL MOLINARI CHATEAU RIVIERE LACOSTE CHATEAU PONT DE BRION |
|
Pascal Molinari succeeded his father at this estate in 1990 after working as a computer programmer at Hewlett-Packard in Bourdeaux. He initiated a series of improvements that are paying off in very impressive quality -- a new chai, on which he did all of the stonework construction himself, and new vinification equipment. In the vineyard, he improved trellising and reduced yields. They still harvest all by hand. The Graves Blanc, Chateau Riviere Lacoste, is 60% Semillon and 40% Sauvignon, displaying richness from the former, and crispness, minerality and delineation from the latter. This cuvee is stainless fermented. Their oldest vines are selected for the Pont de Brion cuvee which is 100% barrique fermented and aged, 55% Semillon and 45% Sauvignon Blanc. Revue du Vin de France has on more than one occasion described this as one of the best of the appellation in Graves.
