DOMAINE VIAL-MAGNÈRES, Olivier & Bernard Sapéras

France, Roussillon

Organic

A family property for four generations, the estate consists of 10 hectares of vines spread out in small parcels across the best plots of the appellation. The terraced vineyards that grow along the coastline are cultivated entirely by hand. The soils are made up of metamorphosed Cambrian rocks composed of decaying chloric and sericitic schist. The traditional Banyuls wine are subjected to long, oxidized maturation. The white Banyuls and vintage cuvées are bottled relatively young after some reduction. Olivier and Bernard Saperas are considered the “inventors” of Banyuls blanc Rivage (in 1986) and they remain the reference to this day.
