Yannick Amirault

France, Loire, Bourgueil

Yannick Amirault took over the vineyards from his grandfather at the age of 22 in 1977. Today the area has 19 acres. Yannick’s son Benoit joined his father in 2003. The vineyard is divided among 13 Ha in Bourgueil and 6 in Saint Nicolas de Bourgueil. The entire domaine has been certified Organic since 2009 with no chemical sprays or weed killers used since 1997. All vineyards are entirely harvested by hand. Since 2003 the winemaking methods have evolved so that the wine keeps the authentic reflection of the vintage (no correction of the degree and acidity). Since 2003, they have returned to fermentation in wooden vats. Fermentations occur naturally, with indigenous yeasts, no sulphites and natural extraction method. All wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered. The domaine follows the moon calendar for all cellar and vineyard work.
