DOMAINE GUERRIN

At the heart of the protected natural site between the Roche de Solutré and the Roche de Vergisson in southern Burgundy, just to the west of Mâcon, Domaine Guerrin lies above the village of Vergisson. Four generations ago, the field took root in 1926 through the marriage of wine-growers Jean and Jeanne Nuizillat in this pre-Pouilly-Fuissé classified appellation. Their estate was passed on to their daughter, Georgette who married Henri Guerrin. In 1984, their son Maurice and his wife Nadine took up the torch and significantly developed their holdings through their expertise and rigor in the production of quality wines. Most recently, in 2011, their son Bastien joined and extends the story. Today their vines are split between more than 35 small, mainly limestone plots with a total area of 14 hectares, making up a patchwork of different soil types that offer an exceptional diversity of terroirs. The cultivation is done with the utmost respect to nature by banishing all pesticides, grassing the rows sides, small yields and tons of manual work as they believe that no machine can replace the intelligence and precision of the human hand. These Pouilly-Fuissés, Saint-Vérans and Macon-Vergissons of Roche de Vergisson, are predominantly old vines, virtually entirely hand-harvested, only indigenous yeasts used and simply beautiful white wines.
